Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound found in grapes, red wine, purple grape juice, peanuts, and some berries. When taken orally, resveratrol appears to be well-absorbed by humans, but its bioavailability is relatively low because it is rapidly metabolized and eliminated (The Linus Pauling Institute).

Can you really extend your life span with this antioxident?

New studies also show that the longevity antioxidant resveratrol may offer powerful protective benefits for your brain, including boosting its blood flow.

Future diabetes treatment may use resveratrol to target the brain. It has been shown to improve diabetes when delivered orally to rodents. Until now, however, little has been known about how these beneficial changes are mediated in the body.

HRT patients rejoice. There's some great news for women who want to decrease their menopausal symptoms without increasing their risk for long term diseases associated with taking hormone replacements: resveratrol.

Just how good is resveratrol at preventing cancer and heart disease? It's so good that drug companies are trying to mimic its molecules in order to claim they're "creating" a new drug to prevent heart disease.

Health secrets of red wine uncovered. New research is uncovering the disease-prevention secrets of a polyphenol called resveratrol, one of compounds in red wine that seems to improve health. Although the benefits have been touted for years, researchers weren't sure how polyphenols, and resveratrol in particular, worked in the body.
